GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP PROGRAMS
The Caribbean has 5 citizenship programs: St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St. Lucia, and Grenada. Applicants will receive a passport in exchange for a real estate purchase or one-off donation to the government. The processing time for these citizenship-by-investment options is approx. 9 months. The different programs are very similar: passports ensure visa-free access to the Schengen Area and the United Kingdom. They involve similar costs and due diligence requirements for the applicants. However, some specific differences will influence the investor’s choice of country.
The Vanuatu Citizenship Program was launched in 2016 and is similar to those in the Caribbean. However, there is only one investment option: a one-off donation to the government. This is the fastest citizenship program – successful applicants are issued passports within 3 months.
Launched in 2019, Montenegro’s global citizenship program is unique because the country is in the process of joining the European Union. Investors who choose this option can leverage this opportunity and obtain a future European passport at a lower cost. Citizenship by investment is only available for government-approved projects.
